A person who contaminated treats with sedative and gave them to children at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual crimes against two children both nine and 10.
The defendant was arrested after eight children and one adult became sick at the facility in mid-summer.
The elderly man, from that region, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on recently.
Yet, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was against a nine-year-old child.
The defendant was remanded in custody prior to a additional proceeding on late November.
'Candy game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the court.
She stated his targets were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer program which he ran.
The defendant played a "treat game" with the minors, the prosecutor stated, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and ask them to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the defendant had conducted this practice with the young males "repeatedly", and children had previously become sick the following morning.
She stated the man had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had concerns in recently.
Mrs Prior KC added: "Recently" his stepchild had worries about the situation, for good reason.
"They chose" to investigate in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC said items including lubricant, petroleum jelly and syringes were located, and his stepson notified the law enforcement about his worries.
She stated the defendant went on to play the "sweet game" with six boys that night - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that point," she stated further.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, previously told that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the events.
The prosecutor said the children were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson contacted the authorities once more.
She stated the defendant then conducted the "sweet game" in a room of five youngsters.
